David Dusek
MgA. David Dušek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Václav Havel Library, Deputy Mayor of Prague 5 for Investment, Sports, and Business Support, A graduate of FAMU.
Through his work, he strives to return to Václav Havel’s vision of governing the country, individual social responsibility, and mutual respect. He was shaped by the dissident movement and, above all, by his personal ties to Václav Havel.
In 1977, he was the second-youngest person arrested during the State Security crackdown on Charter 77 and its signatories. The youngest was his brother Daniel. During the “Velvet Revolution,” he worked as a journalist collaborating with outlets such as CNN and NBC to provide open and truthful coverage of the pivotal days marking the transition from a totalitarian regime to democratic governance in Czechoslovakia and, subsequently, the Czech Republic. After the revolution, he devoted himself to his own business ventures, film production, and book publishing. In 2017, he became actively involved in politics and is currently serving his second term as a council member for Prague 5.
