Dissent Lab has launched

– EPISODE 1-

A new podcast from the Vaclav Havel Center — created in honor of Václav Havel’s 90th birthday.

Václav Havel was a writer, a dissident, and a leader who helped bring down an authoritarian regime during the Velvet Revolution.

But this is not about the past.

It’s about now.

Dissent Lab brings you into conversation with contemporary dissidents — people who have faced imprisonment, torture, and exile for standing up to power. These are voices from the front lines of the fight for human rights, continuing the work Havel stood for, often at great personal cost.

Our first episode features Jesús Armas, a Venezuelan opposition leader who was detained for 14 months in one of the country’s most notorious prisons. Recently released, he speaks with host Peter Green about imprisonment, resistance — and what it takes to keep going.

This is not abstract debate.

These are lived experiences.

At a time when democratic values are under pressure around the world, Dissent Lab asks:

What does it mean to resist today?

The series is shaped not only by the voices it features, but also by its atmosphere — including an original score and text written by Ivan Acher.

“The narrowest path is walked alone.”
