We celebrated Vaclav Havel by remembering his writings, watching the two short plays that Samuel Beckett and Havel wrote for each other, admiring the tapestry Flying Man by Peter Sis, singing along with Czech songwriter Jaroslav Hutka Havlicku, Havle and Coney Island Gospel Singers Oh Happy Day. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the inaugural Award for a Courageous Writer at Risk to the Burmese writer and activist Ma Thida by Professor Timothy Garton Ash. [metaslider id=2846]
